The Allied Museum in Berlin is showing a special exhibit through 2011, “REVISITED - Allied Sites in Berlin”. Facilities that were used by the U.S., British and French forces in Berlin from 1945 to 1994 are shown then and now in photographs, drawings and models.
While visiting Berlin last fall, I had the opportunity to attend the exhibit’s opening, which featured speakers including representatives from the city government and the exhibit’s photographer. The crowd appeared to consist exclusively of native Berliners – it seemed that I was the only “Army brat” in attendance. Since very few of the armed forces personnel and their families that were actually stationed in Berlin will have a chance to see this exhibit documenting the places they lived, worked and played for so many years, I would like to share the photos I took of the exhibit in the form of this blog. Hopefully they will trigger some memories that you would like to share – please comment!
